Whether you are after festive family portraits, photos of the children that you will still love in twenty years, a romantic couple portrait, or simply a proper photograph of everyone together for once — mini sessions are a short, relaxed, affordable way to get it done.

A mini session is exactly what it sounds like: a shorter sitting on a fully decorated set, booked into a fixed time slot. You are not paying for a full portrait session you do not need, and you are not spending a Saturday on it. You arrive, we shoot, you leave with images ready for your Christmas cards and gifts.

Sessions run in a warm, welcoming studio with professional lighting — so it does not matter how dark or grey it is outside, and nobody is standing in the snow trying to look comfortable.

This Year’s Christmas Set: Rich Burgundy and Timeless Holiday Charm

Step into the warmth of a heritage-inspired Christmas setting: a beautifully decorated flocked tree in rich burgundy and rose gold, deep wine velvet drapes, a white mantel with NOEL lettering, an antique gold mirror and a cane settee with blush cushions. Two straightforward options. Both include professional retouching and high-resolution digital images delivered ready to print or post — there is no separate charge to unlock your own photographs.

Option 1 — Holiday Mini: $150 + HST

Option 2 — Holiday Classic: $200 + HST

  • 40-minute professional studio photo session
  • 20 professionally edited digital images
  • More time for different poses, family combinations and relaxed portraits
  • The better choice for larger families, or if grandparents and pets are joining

Who Christmas Mini Sessions Are For

Mini sessions suit anyone who wants beautiful holiday photographs without committing to a full portrait session.

Families with young children

Short sessions work with small children rather than against them. Twenty focused minutes on a decorated set will get you more usable photographs than two hours of trying to keep a three-year-old interested. If your children are at the age where sitting still is negotiable, see also family and kids photography.

Couples and newly engaged

A warm, festive portrait of the two of you — far more personal than another phone photograph, and it makes a genuinely good gift for parents.

Children and siblings

Classic holiday portraits of the children on their own, or siblings together. These are the photographs that end up framed on a grandparent’s wall.

Multi-generational family photos

Christmas is often the one time of year everyone is in the same city. The 40-minute Holiday Classic gives enough time to photograph the full group and then the smaller family combinations within it.

Christmas Cards, Gifts and Keepsakes

Your edited images arrive as high-resolution digital files, so you can use them for whatever you need over the holidays and beyond:

Because the files are high resolution, they print properly at large sizes rather than going soft the moment you go past 8×10.

Book Early — Holiday Dates Are Limited

Mini sessions run on a limited number of dates, and the weekend slots in late November and early December go first. If you are planning to send Christmas cards, work backwards: allow time for your images to be edited and delivered, and then for your cards to be printed and posted. Booking in late October or November is comfortable; booking in mid-December is a race.

Each session is a fixed time slot, so arriving on time matters more than it would for a full session — the slot after yours belongs to another family.

The Holiday Mini is a 20-minute session and the Holiday Classic is 40 minutes. Both are fixed time slots on a fully decorated set, so the time is spent photographing rather than setting up. Twenty minutes is enough for children, a couple, or a small family; choose 40 minutes if you want several family combinations or a larger group.

The Holiday Mini is $150 + HST for a 20-minute session with 10 professionally edited digital images. The Holiday Classic is $200 + HST for a 40-minute session with 20 edited images. There is no separate fee to receive your digital files, and custom packages are available.

A 20-minute Holiday Mini comfortably suits up to about four or five people. For larger or multi-generational groups, or if you want both the whole family together and smaller groupings within it, book the 40-minute Holiday Classic so there is time to do both properly.

This year’s set is built around deep burgundy, wine red, rose gold and cream. Those tones, along with neutrals, soft greys, ivory and blush, photograph beautifully against it. Coordinate rather than match exactly, avoid large logos and busy patterns, and bring a second option for the children if you think a change of clothes is likely to be needed. Edited images are delivered as high-resolution digital files after the session. If you need them by a specific date for Christmas cards or printed gifts, say so when you book and the edit will be scheduled around your deadline.

Yes, well-behaved pets are welcome on the set. Let me know when booking so the slot is planned for it, and please bring someone who can hold the lead just outside the frame. The 40-minute session is the safer choice when a pet is joining.

Yes. Babies and newborns are photographed on the set with parents or siblings, at a relaxed pace. Book the 40-minute Holiday Classic for a newborn, since feeding and settling time is simply part of the session and should not eat into the photography.

As early as you can. Mini sessions run on a limited number of dates and the late-November and early-December weekend slots are taken first. If your photographs are going on Christmas cards, allow time for editing, delivery, card printing and posting.
